A new Bloomberg (opens in new tab) report has revealed that Electronic Arts has ceased developing a new game based on the Apex Legends and Titanfall series. According to the report, which cites three sources, the game was codenamed Titanfall Legends and was to be set in the shared Apex/Titanfall universe. It was being directed by Mohammad Alavi until he departed from Respawn Entertainment in 2022. Alavi had previously teased the project on Twitter in 2021, saying that the studio was developing a brand new singleplayer adventure. His LinkedIn page also indicated that he was creative director on this project prior to his departure. This led to speculation that the game was Titanfall 3, but unfortunately this was not the case.
EA has reportedly laid off around 50 people who had been working on the game. However, some of them may be moved to other positions at the company. This is not the only project that has been affected by recent changes; Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been delayed until April 28 (opens in new tab), and development of the mobile versions of Apex Legends and Battlefield has been halted (opens in new tab).
