Sony recently gifted their PlayStation employees a custom PlayStation 5 DualSense controller to commemorate the end of 2022, and it has left the rest of us green with envy.
Aaron Jason Espinoza, senior manager at Insomniac Games, took to Twitter to share pictures of the redesigned controller, which he described as a “holiday gift” from Sony to celebrate a successful 2022.
The ‘Play Has No Limits’ controller features PlayStation’s iconic button shapes with faint geometric grey lines connecting them across the touchpad and grips. It also includes a black stand with the year 2022 stamped on it.
The first thought that came to mind upon seeing this controller was, where can I buy one?
Unfortunately, this redesigned controller is not yet available for purchase, but it may be released to consumers. Sony released a special PS1 edition of the PS4 on the 20th anniversary of PlayStation, initially only for their internal employees but later became available to buy.
At this time, Sony has not announced that this special edition 2022 controller will be released to the public. Given its year-specific customization, it is unlikely to be available to the general public.
