Today Sega released another trailer of the upcoming mobile JRPG 404 Game Re:Set, which carries the name of NieR: Automata creator Yoko Taro. This trailer introduces us to After Burner, who, like Out Run which we saw a few days ago, is essentially the waifu version of the After Burner series. Voiced by Akari Kito, who we heard as Céline in Fire Emblem Engage, Provie in River City Girls 2, Shoka Sakurane in Neo: The World Ends With You, Barbara in Genshin Impact, and more, this concept is likely familiar to those who are familiar with Japan’s rich pop culture. 404 Game Re:Set, also known as Error Game Reset, is a mobile JRPG born of a partnership between Sega and Yoko Taro, announced a few days ago after a mysterious tease. It’s for iOS and Android and free-to-play, and features a gacha system that allows players to unlock Sega’s beloved franchises like Out Run, After Burner, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Fighter as waifus. These characters will form a resistance against a distorted world in which Sega itself has taken over. At the moment, a western release for this game has not been announced, but we’ll see if Sega will decide to bring it over eventually.
